When potential adopters consider which dog to take home with them, they generally look for it to be as young as possible. 

This is only not the case when someone specifically wants to adopt a dog with less energy and more hours spent in a warm bed than in the playground. 

That is exactly what one woman had in mind when she was adopting a senior dog. However, she soon realized that she didn’t get exactly what she expected.

The behavior of this West Highland White Terrier was very different from the norms of behavior of a standard senior dog.

Puppy-Like Energy

A TikTok user, @nicofituk, had a win-win situation when she adopted a senior Westie. She wanted a dog with less energy and fewer hours spent in the backyard with a soccer ball in its teeth, and senior dogs are less expensive than younger ones. 

However, those were only her expectations, but the reality turned out to be somewhat different. True, her wallet really did remain a little thicker than it would have been if she had gotten a puppy, but that’s why she got a dog that behaved against all her expectations.

In a TikTok video she posted on June 12, 2024, this woman showed that her Westie did not behave like every other senior dog at all but that she was full of puppy-like energy instead. 

The video’s caption reads, “It’s giving…big baby.” Every clip shows this Westie in a burst of enormous energy, whether she is chasing a ball, playing with her toy, or doing some mischief. 

Although this woman was aware of the fact that Westies are known for their incredible energy, she hadn’t expected it to be expressed to such an extent in the later years. 

However, she quickly got used to it and soon realized that she would probably feel bad if she had to watch her furry friend in bed every day instead of on various adventures outside.

Apart from the fact that this senior dog made us all delighted with her positive energy, which we all love to see, she also showed us that age is just a number and that it should not sway us from living life to the fullest.
