The key to understanding a dog’s behavior is love. Even in the most challenging of times, love gives you the strength to push forward.

When Satria got lost in the city, his owners became desperate. He ran away after being severely injured, and the only solution for the family was to seek help from professionals.

Enter Aron Hughes, a long-time rescuer of Sun And Sage.

This giant-hearted rescuer spotted Satria roaming the streets, but there was one problem. He wouldn’t let absolutely anyone touch him or come near.

For Aron, there’s no such thing as impossible. Even during the most difficult rescue missions, he preserved his motivation and kept fighting for dogs in need.

Satria’s case was no different. When he first saw him, the dog kept barking and pushing away everyone around. He ran in circles, clearly in pain from a severe tail injury that was so evident.

“I don’t know what happened but on the weekend I found this boy, running in circles in the road, under constant aggravation from a wound where his tail used to be,” Aron wrote in his Instagram post.

Aron didn’t want to rush things. He stood at a proper distance, calling the pup in a friendly tone. Still, there was no success. Satria kept barking and running from one place to another, which made Aron think of another solution.

After leaving pieces of food for the dog to eat and relax a little, he called his colleagues to help him trap the dog in a net.

The entire team put sweat and tears into this rescue, as Satria was not an easy dog to catch. But then again, nothing stops a dedicated soul! Eventually, Aron and his brave fellow volunteers managed to seize him and take him to a vet clinic.

Satria’s rescue was truly rewarding. If Aron didn’t help him, he’d probably get hit by a car or face fatal consequences from tail infection.

After a thorough checkup, the vets determined that what remained of his tail was infested with maggots. On top of that, Satria had blood parasites and was severely anemic.

Even though he was in good hands now, Aron didn’t want to leave his rescue boy behind. He kept visiting him almost on a daily basis just to check up on him.

Satria was still in a really difficult place. He clearly coped with past trauma, which resulted in him being constantly nervous around Aron. He still wasn’t comfortable enough to be touched or petted, but Aron didn’t want to give up.

He spent weeks visiting the dog in the clinic, bringing him the nicest treats. Day after day, the two started interacting better, and Satria felt so much more relaxed around his savior.

A few weeks later, a miracle happened! He finally let Aron touch his head. It was a heartwarming moment for both Satria and his hooman, showing that time, indeed, heals everything!

“Everyone thought he was such a mean dog. But there’s nothing mean about him. He was just in pain and he’s not actually at all aggressive,” Aron told The Dodo.

The vets amputated Satria’s tail, leaving only a tailbone remaining, which stopped the infection. It took this sweet dog a lot of time to recover and start trusting again, but in the end, he finally did both.

Aron got in contact with Satria’s family, and the rest, as they say, is history!

This black boi was safely brought to where he belonged, and his family couldn’t be happier.

“Last week I reunited Blackie/Satria with Eny and boy, if I thought he had a soft spot for me, with Eny it was a whole different level. I saw Satria happier than if ever seen him,” Aron wrote on Instagram.

Eny, his momma, is extremely grateful for Aron’s good deed. Satria, also known as Blackie, in his family, now gets to live happily ever after, and he couldn’t be more excited!
