Rescuers Tried To Save This Abandoned Dog From The Streets But She Was Just Too Scared
There is something so profoundly sad about seeing a scared dog on the streets running at the very sight of other people.
Just who could have damaged their spirit to the point that they are so distrustful of humans? What did they go through because of this?
They almost always carry some kind of trauma, either due to being abused or completely neglected. This is just the tip of the iceberg, but it happens everywhere in the world.
Tofu’s backstory is not exactly known, but she was terrified of humans in the same way and she only got another chance because some kind people worked really hard to save her.
The Rescuers Tried Their Best
After Hope For Paws received a text about an abandoned dog running around the streets of California, they had to help her, or else she could get in trouble.
They rushed to the location where she was last seen and started looking for her. The people who lived there tried to help, but it was not possible.
Tofu was just so scared that she would always run away. Luckily, the rescuers were there to make sure she is safe.
They also quickly realized that simply trying to get close to Tofu wouldn’t work and it was probably best that they let her lead them to her safe spot.
Once there, they could try to encircle her and place a leash on her head. She went back into someone’s yard, and they slowly went after her.
One of the rescuers offered her food, but she just ran in the other direction. It took a while before Tofu was able to calm down a bit.
They were able to encircle her in the yard and they slowly placed a leash on her head. She was frightened, so she naturally tried to bite them at first.
Soon enough, Tofu came to the realization that these people only wanted to help her so she willingly went to the kennel where she was secured.
A New Fur Coat For Tofu
The rescuers thanked the woman who made the call about Tofu and were now on their way back to the shelter in California.
When she was there, her mood shifted completely. She was still a bit confused, but the uneasiness was gone.
She let her rescuers give her some cuddles, and she warmly accepted them. This was a very positive sign as it meant that she finally felt safe.
Now that she relaxed, they groomed her matted fur and she looked a lot better without all of the dirt that was covering her.
Tofu also received a warm bath to help get rid of all the fleas, and she now looks like a completely changed dog.
With time and care, she is coming out of her shell slowly and is starting to become really playful with each day. Her new fur coat has started growing and she looks beautiful.
Given how scared she initially was, it’s safe to say it will still take some time for her wounds to heal, but she is on a good path for now.
While we don’t know what happens next in her story, I am glad that she is safe with her rescuers and I hope she finds someone who will make her feel loved again.
