Hunter Dumps His Senior Dog For Being ‘Useless’ But A Hero Steps In To Save the Day
Papi has spent his entire life being a hunter dog.
He accompanied his hooman on many adventures and made incredible memories. However, as time went on, Papi started getting old and his hunting skills weren’t as sharp as they used to be. Not only was he getting a bit slow but he was also going blind.
Even though he was one of the best hunter dogs his owner ever had, he still decided to surrender him as he deemed him ‘useless’.
Luckily, Natalie heard about his heartbreaking story and decided to give him a second chance at life.
Things Do Get Better
Knowing that senior dogs with disabilities don’t get adopted often, Natalie couldn’t stand the possibility of this sweet boy spending his last days in a shelter.
So, she went to pick him up, and the rest was history!
Unfortunately, Papi didn’t have an ideal life growing up. He sustained a lot of fractures in his legs that weren’t treated properly. This meant that, as they healed, they healed in a weird way, leaving this sweet boy with issues that would follow him his entire life.
When she took him to the vet’s office for a medical examination, she was told that Papi’s blindness was actually due to his poor diet. He had a high intake of calcium, making his eyes go foggy.
Over time, Papi’s overall health improved significantly. He was eating a highly nutritious diet and started going to therapy for his arthritis. However, I do believe that all of this newfound love played an important part, too.
Papi even started wearing special glasses when he went on adventures, which protected his eyes from the branches and sand.
The Adventure Never Stops
Papi adores his new life.
He remained an outdoorsy pup as he went on many adventures with his new hoomans. From climbing the highest mountains to swimming in the deepest seas, you name it, he loves it!
And, seeing his happy personality shine through filled Natalie’s heart with joy.
“I really wish that he would have been with me since he was a puppy so that he would have had a better life. But I really hope that he forgot all about the years before,” Natalie told GeoBeats.
But Papi also likes to be lazy. He even has his designated spot on the couch where he spends his evenings dreaming about all of the adventures he will go on in the future.
Three years later, Papi continues bringing joy to Natalie and her friends and family.
He loves spending time with hoomans and immediately gets attached to every single person Natalie brings to her house. Of course, he never received any complaints. I mean, who doesn’t want to have a cuddly dog on their lap when they are catching up with friends?
Seeing older pups get a second chance at life makes me the happiest person ever!
A big thank you to Natalie for refusing to watch this sweet boy spend his final days being depressed in a kennel.
You really are the change we need in the world.
Thank you!
