Foster Dog Won The Hearts Of Her Fosters Doing The Most Touching Thing Ever
Even though she is the sweetest pup ever, Cartier found herself in a New York City shelter after her previous owners decided that they no longer had time for her.
Before dropping her off, they locked her up in her crate, which caused the pup to lose some of its sparkle.
However, as soon as she arrived at the New York City shelter, she became a beloved pup of every hooman who worked there. They loved everything about her – from her shy smile and perfect ear bonnet to her adorable personality.
They also loved the fact that she was pulled from the shelter by Rebound Hounds, giving her the opportunity to look for a foster home.
Finally With The Ones She Loves
After meeting her when visiting the shelter, Katy Brink and her husband, Collin, fell head over heels in love with her.
So, it came as no surprise when they decided to take her to their loving home and foster her. Cartier was so grateful to her new foster parents that she refused to take her head off of their shoulders the entire ride home!
Ever since, she adores spending time with her new hoomans, following them wherever they go.
Unfortunately, there was a slight hiccup.
Cartier’s foster parents already had two pups, Jake and Lola, and as much as they wanted the three to get along together, that just wasn’t the case.
“She previously lived with a small dog, but it was pretty clear from the start that our dogs stressed her out, and vice versa,” Collin told The Dodo.
One Day At A Time
Every day, Cartier does everything she can to get more comfortable with her foster siblings, but what helps her the most is her training sessions.
But, when they aren’t training in the yard, the pups are kept in different areas of the house. This means that Cartier spends a lot of time on her own.
However, in order to keep an eye on her, her foster parents decided to get a puppy cam.
This meant that they could check up on the sweet girl whenever she was on her own. But they realized that as soon as they closed the door, she would always do the cutest yet saddest thing.
“Whenever we left her alone, we could see that she was just waiting by the door for us. Which was kind of heartbreaking, especially considering she’d grown up in a crate. She just wants to be your best friend and be a part of whatever you’re doing,” Collin said.
So, the hoomans decided to come up with a way that would ensure that this sweet girl spends minimal time alone.
Cartier hangs out with one parent in their home office during the day while her foster siblings are with another. When the workday finishes, Cartier goes into her room while her hoomans spend some time with Jake and Lola.
But don’t worry… during her little alone time, Cartier gets a lot of toys to keep her busy and entertained.
At the end of the day, Cartier gets to snuggle with her foster parents on the sofa, making her feel loved and appreciated.
Even though this system works, Cartier will need to find a home of her own!
Looking For A Home
Cartier adores hoomans and loves to spend time with them as much as possible. But she doesn’t really like sharing them.
“She’s such a cuddle bug when it’s just her and us. She needs to find someone who doesn’t have other dogs, who can do this with her full-time,” Collin said.
She loves walking on her leash and spending time outside but she will also happily lounge around.
A quiet home would be perfect for this sweet girl, allowing her to finally decompress and relax.
“She’s going to make her future family so happy,” Brink concluded.
