“Joule had significant anxiety when we first brought her home,” Brenna recounted to The Dodo. “We collaborated closely with a dog behaviorist to address her issues. It was a slow and steady process, but the progress she has made is truly inspiring.”
Brenna’s dedication to Joule’s well-being has been unwavering. They engaged in various therapeutic techniques and training exercises to help Joule manage her anxiety. Despite these efforts, Brenna understood that some issues would take longer to resolve.
“She’s definitely a velcro dog,” Brenna said with a smile. “When we’re home, she needs to be close to us at all times. It’s like she finds comfort in our presence, and that helps her stay calm.”
Shortly after adopting Joule, Brenna decided to expand their family by adopting an orange tabby cat named Kelvin. The introduction of Kelvin into the household proved to be a turning point for Joule. The two animals formed an instant bond, becoming inseparable friends and providing each other with companionship and comfort.
“The shelters gave them temporary names before we adopted them,” Brenna said, laughing. “Kelvin was called Socks, and Joule was called Sandals. It’s funny how Socks and Sandals turned out to be such a perfect pair!”
Brenna was delighted to see how well Joule and Kelvin got along. However, she had no idea just how deep their connection truly was until she installed security cameras to monitor them while she was at work. The cameras were intended to ensure Joule’s safety, but they ended up capturing something much more heartwarming.
The first time Brenna reviewed the footage, she was astounded. Kelvin wasn’t just keeping Joule company; he was actively comforting her throughout the entire day. Brenna watched in awe as Kelvin snuggled up to Joule, providing her with a sense of security and companionship that she desperately needed.
“We noticed Kelvin and Joule cuddling on the couch every day,” Brenna said. “I repositioned the camera for a closer view and was amazed to see them snuggling closely, almost like they were hugging each other. It was clear that Kelvin was providing Joule with the comfort she needed in our absence.”
When Brenna shared the video on social media, it quickly went viral. The caption read, “This happens literally every weekday for the full 8 hours we’re gone.” The video resonated with viewers around the world, showcasing the incredible bond between the two animals.

“Kelvin is very mellow and sweet,” Brenna explained. “He loves sleeping and being warm, which he achieves by cuddling with Joule during the day. It’s a win-win situation for both of them.”
