Every day, shelter employees struggle with the influx of new abandoned and stray dogs. It is not an easy situation at all, but these good people’s love for furry beings simply does not allow them to act otherwise.

Apart from the fact that their kennels are filled every day with dogs they find on the street or brought to them by some heartless owner, these people also have to be prepared for some absolutely heartbreaking situations.

Just such a situation happened to an employee one day when she found abandoned puppies outside her shelter. Who knows if these poor little creatures would have survived if she hadn’t found them, considering the extremely high temperatures that prevailed in those days.

“Why Are People So Cruel?”

Four cute little puppies spent the night outside the shelter before they were found by Marija Potochan, an employee of @happyshelterdogs.

This big-hearted woman was absolutely heartbroken because of this situation, but she was able to quickly regain her composure and take the puppies inside before the extreme heat set in. 

“Four puppies dumped outside the shelter this morning. Why are people so cruel? They were hiding scared. You can hear the shelter dogs barking, the ones we are trying to rehome every single day,” it was stated in the caption of the TikTok video posted by the shelter. 

One of the shelter volunteers, Gemma Williams, said that the puppies were not hungry and were clean, meaning that they came straight from the home. 

“We can only assume that somebody’s pet dog had given birth, and they didn’t know what to do with the puppies,” she said in her interview for Newsweek. 

Gemma also added that Marija initially thought that there were just three puppies. However, when she took them to the safety of the shelter, she heard loud cries coming from outside and quickly realized that another baby needed her help.

All the puppies were soon saved from the coming heat and their future looked at least a little brighter from that moment on.

A Video Left The Internet In Tears

Since the shelter shared the video on TikTok, people around the world were able to see this heartbreaking situation. As expected, most of them were touched and there were many reactions to this video.

“This is so so sad what’s wrong with people 😭😭😭,” one user wrote.

“How can people do this?!?! Breaks my heart 💔,” another added. 

And the third quipped: “It’s so sad that people are still doing this”

Despite the very difficult situation at the shelter, these big-hearted employees and volunteers made sure that the puppies did not lack anything and that they were provided with the best possible conditions.

“The shelter will now pay to vaccinate them, feed them, and hopefully get them ready for adoption. It will be at least two months before they can be adopted,” Gemma said at the end. 

We hope and believe that everything will go well and that the puppies will soon meet the happy endings they deserve.
