When someone brought a box of puppies to the Saipan Humane Society, little did they know that one of them would turn out to be the most cherished, precious pup. Charles, a tiny puppy with no eyes, captured everyone’s heart, including his foster mom, Lauren. A woman who fosters for the Saipan Humane Society instantly realized that Charles had no eyes and assumed it would be difficult to find a home for him. However, she decided to take him in and foster him, helping him adjust to life without sight.
At first, Charles had a few hiccups as he learned to navigate the world as a blind puppy. His bond with Lauren played a crucial role in helping him adjust. Gradually, Charles grew to recognize the sound of her footsteps, eliminating the need for clicking noises to guide him. Each day, their bond grew stronger and Charles became an integral part of the family.
He loved to sleep on his foster mom’s head at night, cuddling up with his body on her face. Charles was the first dog Lauren felt a similar bond with since her beloved dog Tasi passed away last year. Having Charles around provided a great source of comfort and filled the void left by Tasi’s passing.
Charles was not only attached to his foster mom but also wanted to be a part of everything the family did. He eagerly participated in their activities, showcasing his loving and sweet nature. Lauren co-founded an organization that sends dogs from Guam and Saipan to adopters and rescues in the United States. Charles was scheduled to be on a flight to find his forever home, but fate had other plans. He missed his flight when his foster mom realized she couldn’t bear to part with him.
Lauren made the decision to officially adopt Charles, much to the excitement of her family. They couldn’t imagine life without Charles and were thrilled to welcome him as a permanent member of their family. Charles is now living a picture-perfect life thanks to Lauren, her family, and the other volunteers with Saipan Humane Society.
