As much as I love seeing cute animals find their forever homes, I get reminded that a lot of people want to adopt an animal only if they look a certain way.

This means that a lot of fur babies get overlooked by potential adopters just because they look ‘different’. This is especially true for animals with disabilities.

That is why when Lauren noticed one special guy among a litter of puppies, she knew she had to take him in herself.

Meet Charles

When somebody brought a box of adorable puppies to an animal shelter, the staff were overjoyed with their cuteness.

However, one of the workers, a woman named Lauren, noticed that one of the puppies had no eyes.

“So, instantly I thought ‘Nobody is going to want a puppy with no eyes.’ It’s so hard to find homes for them. So I took him, and I fostered him,” Lauren told The Dodo.

In the beginning, the pup, now named Charles, did face some difficulties in trying to figure out how to live.

He was constantly bumping into things as he was trying to navigate his surroundings. But then, Lauren figured out a little hack for him.

“Anywhere I went I would make these clicking noises, and his ears would perk up, and he would just prance on over to me. He really used me as his Seeing Eye human,” she stated.

But as he grew, Charles figured out that he could simply listen for Lauren’s footsteps and follow them. She no longer had to make those clicking sounds all the time.

As days went by, Lauren and Charles grew inseparable.

From playing with her the entire day to sleeping on top of her head, this sweet pup truly found his hooman.

Impossible To Say Goodbye

Ever since Lauren’s heart dog, Tasi, passed away, she felt a hole inside of her heart that seemed impossible to fill. However, as Charles came into her life, she felt an indescribable sense of comfort that helped her move forward.

So, when Charles was supposed to leave his family and catch a flight that would take him to a new life, Lauren was not ready to let go.

“We decided to adopt Charles officially. My family was super excited that we decided to keep Charles. I simply couldn’t imagine life without him,” she concluded.

And the rest is history!

Charles is finally living the life of his dreams.

Surrounded by hoomans who not only shower him with love and adoration but also gave him the ability to forget all about his disability really made this mom shine!
