Scared Mom Dog That Gave Birth To 12 Babies In Shelter Finds The Perfect Foster
When Dove was picked up from the streets as a stray dog, she was terrified.
This very pregnant soon-to-be-momma stayed stuck in the corner of the kennel and was completely shut down from the world.
The loud shelter environment, sadly, triggered a trauma in her, and when she finally delivered her twelve babies, she was in an extremely difficult situation.
Just when things seemed hopeless for Dove, Rita Earl Blackwell, a volunteer from Los Angeles, California, entered the scene. The moment Rita saw Dove in her tiny kennel, this giant-hearted animal lover rushed into life-saving action.
The Shelter Environment Wasn’t Safe For Her Tiny Family
For days, Rita visited Dove in the shelter to give her hope. At the same time, she kept posting pleas on her social media in order to help this poor dog find a way out.
“I’m so sad thinking about her having to give birth alone in the shelter. In crowded and loud kennels. They’re cold. I’m worried thinking about the babies trying to survive there,” Rita wrote in an Instagram post.
Only a few days later, she got a response from Pawsitive Beginnings, from Los Angeles.
Aleks was more than happy to help Dove and her litter. In no time, this poor momma and her babies were out of the shelter, embarking upon a brand-new life journey.
“I can’t image what Dove has been through in her life, but she does not know human love, and has scars all over her face,” Pawsitive Beginnings wrote on Instagram.
The Perfect Foster Home
Thanks to Karla’s Pack, who works closely with Aleks and welcomed Dove and her babies with an open heart, Dove’s family got a beautiful foster home.
For the first couple of weeks, Dove was pretty reserved and distrustful. She would only let Karla feed her, but that was about it. All she cared about was her twelve pups and keeping them safe.
Then, as time went on, her incredible transformation unfolded.
One day, she even went out of her enclosure, and she was shocked – positively! Other than her and the babies, Karla had seven other doggos who were more than happy to meet Dove. And, she couldn’t be more thrilled!
“Momma Dove is so sweet. She has been wanting to come out and be with my pack so we finally let her. She did so well that now she doesn’t want to go back in and be the momma,” Karla wrote in an update post.
It was truly rewarding seeing Dove come out of her shell. Given that she had no love in her previous life, just seeing her interact with everyone was amazing.
“Having love and family is all new to her and she doesn’t want to miss a minute. Once she’s out with us she’s happy and content,” she added.
Life Is Sweet For Dove And Her Babies
Dove’s little babies turned into furry lovebugs in no time. With the help of Karla, who took care of them around the clock, all of them grew into extremely healthy and happy-go-lucky dogs.
Half of them have already found their forever homes within the first couple of months.
On the other hand, Dove and the rest of her pack are still waiting for that once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. When the time comes, there’s no doubt that these babies will make some families really happy.
For now, they’re just happy to be given a second chance at life! Thanks to their rescuers, Dove and the babies get to learn that life, indeed, is sweet!
