Today, unfortunately, it is no surprise to find dogs left to fend for themselves on the street. Since these furry creatures are highly dependent on people, they are mostly unable to get out of difficult situations on their own.

This is especially the case with puppies who are forced to fight for survival on the street at the beginning of their lives. Sometimes the conditions can be extreme, so that these creatures have nothing else to do but hope that big-hearted people will save them. 

One day, a litter of puppies found themselves in exactly such a situation, but luckily, they quickly met their saviors.

Sun-Baked Fur Babies

According to PEOPLE, on July 14, 2024, police officers from The Garden City Police Department, located in Garden City, Kansas, found 13 puppies on the side of the road near 9th and Maple Streets at roughly 9:30 a.m.

That same day, they posted about this rescue on their official Facebook page, hoping that someone would recognize the fur babies. 

“PUPPY LOVE: Officers found this sweet litter of puppies near 9th and Maple Streets (THIRTEEN of them),” they wrote. “We made them junior “paw-tners” and showered them with love and attention before taking them to the animal shelter.”

It was extremely important that they found and saved these puppies in time because if not, they probably wouldn’t last much longer with the very high temperatures. According to AccuWeather, the temperature reached 97 degrees that day. 

Luckily, thanks to the quick reaction of these experienced professionals, everything went well.

“Other than being hot when we found them, they were sweet as can be and appear to be in good health,” the police department shared in an email statement to PEOPLE.

Taking Care Of The Little Ones

In their statement, The Garden City Police Department also stated that the puppies weighed 6 to 8 pounds each and that they were showering them with extra attention and care before surrendering them to the Finney County Humane Society, located in Garden City, Kansas. 

During that time, these officers also devoted themselves to the investigation to find out if someone had abandoned the puppies.

The Finney County Humane Society is helping them wholeheartedly in this as they shared photos and descriptions of the puppies on their Facebook profile. 

With the help of good people, as well as professionals from both the police and the rescue organization, there is no doubt that these little ones will someday meet their happiest ending.

“Fingers crossed they are reunited with their family(s) soon!” the police department wrote at the end of their post.
