The Entire West Virginia Veterinary Team Gathers For This Exceptional Moment
Birth is truly one of the most special moments ever.
And the staff at a West Virginia shelter knows all about this. That is why when an adorable Greyhound was giving birth to a litter of puppies, they all gathered and welcomed the babies with open arms.
And since there were a lot of puppies to tend to, it was all hands on deck.
Welcome To The World
When one of the patients at the Cross Lanes Vet’s office needed an emergency C-section, every staff member that was on the clock scrubbed in, gathered all of their supplies, and eagerly awaited the pups!
As they were being delivered, they were carefully handed to the staff members who gave them a quick little checkup as well as a little bath.
After the last baby Greyhound was delivered, the West Virginia surgeon closed the mama up and determined that the procedure was a success.
Since all of the puppies were in perfect health, the medical team shifted their focus onto the mama to ensure that she had the speediest recovery ever!
The little family is now spending time together with their mama, who makes sure that they have the cleanest fur and the fullest bellies. I am sure that when the time is right, every single one of these pups will end up in a loving family that will continue to shower them with love and respect.
Doggo Labor 101
If you have a pregnant mama pup who is about to give birth at any second, here are some tips so that you can create a safe and comfortable environment for their labor.
Quiet and private space: Find a nice, quiet space in your home where the mama dog will feel safe and undisturbed. This will not only ease her possible anxiety but also allow her to be relaxed and comfortable.
Keep it clean: The area should always be clean and hygienic, avoiding diseases and infections. This can be done by regularly changing and washing the bedding. Having clean towels or papers on standby will make this easy.
You are the midwife: Be prepared to provide assistance if necessary; however, if she doesn’t need it, keep at a safe distance. She has everything under control!
Emergency contact: It is advised to have your vet’s phone number available at all times in case of an emergency. Try to familiarize yourself with the whole process so that if something goes wrong, you can act quickly!
Post-birth care: After the pups arrive, make sure that the mama is comfortable and that she is nursing them. Provide her with fresh water and a yummy meal because she sure does need it. Feel free to call the vet over so that they can give them a quick checkup to ensure that everything is okay!
By following these tips and being prepared, you can help create a safe and comfortable environment so that the puppies can come into the world happy and healthy, setting the stage for the best life ever!
