Kind Family Realized A Dog They Wanted To Adopt Has A Best Friend So They Took Him In Too
As our best friends, dogs have grown very accustomed to our behavior and love spending time with us even if it means doing nothing for a big part of the day.
But, they don’t just love spending time with us. Because of their social nature, they can befriend pretty much anyone. Their most common friendships are usually with other dogs.
These bonds are particularly special because our pups need someone who can enjoy the same activities as they do, and it can also help them if their human parents are working and can’t be in the house all the time.
Ollie and Bruno’s story was similar. While they grew up together, it was never certain if they would find a family together, but then everything changed one day.
Two Adorable Doggos
Before their big adoption day came, Bruno and Ollie spent a lot of time in the Benton Franklin Humane Society in Washington.
Their stay there was pleasant, and Bruno actually got a chance at one point when somebody came to adopt him.
However, that would not turn out well because his owner got too sick to care for him, so he had to be sent back.
It was at this point that the shelter staff decided to place Bruno and Ollie in the same playgroup. After a while, they noticed just how well they got along with each other.
They became best friends in no time, and their rescuers would be very happy if somebody adopted them together.
However, as time went on, a few people came, but nobody was interested. This was a problem, but the staff knew it was only a matter of time.
Good News For Bruno And Ollie
Eventually, Tana Whelan and her husband, Paul, came to the shelter with a desire to adopt a dog. When they met the two German Shepherds, they immediately realized they were best friends.
They didn’t have the heart to adopt just one of them, so they made the decision and took in both Bruno and Ollie.
On their Instagram post, they wrote: “When we couldn’t decide which dog to adopt we made the very impulsive, and probably very stupid, decision to just get both. Welcome to your forever home, Poncho and Pretzel.”
After they took them into their new house in Washington, they helped them get settled in. The two pups immediately understood that this was where they lived now.
The two adorable dogs can now enjoy playtime in this new environment, and I have no doubt they will love exploring everything they see.
It’s absolutely amazing that Whelan and her husband made this decision, and I think it’s important for the well-being of all dogs to have a sibling.
