Hikers Were Shocked To Find An Abandoned Pup In Canyon With Something Around His Mouth
That summer day, two hikers who were having a great time exploring a remote trail couldn’t imagine the sight that they were about to witness.
As they moved further down the embankment in Malibu Creek Canyon in California, the good humans spotted a face peering out from behind a rock.
After the hikers came closer, they discovered an abandoned dog with zip ties over his mouth and neck.
The canine, who was approximately 250 feet down the side of the road, looked at the kind-hearted people with eyes filled with heartbreak.
Their hearts became overwhelmed with sorrow. They couldn’t believe that someone could be so heartless and leave an innocent animal to suffer in silence.
Gaining The Trust Of A Hurt Pup
The traumatized dog was distrustful of the good people. He needed reassurance that they wouldn’t hurt him like the people who dumped him.
After the hikers called 9-1-1, they tried to win his trust. One of them lay on the ground and talked to him softly, doing their best to coax him out of the dangerous place.
Although he was cautious at first, the dog recognized the hikers’ genuine intention to lend him a helping hand.
“I was laying down on the floor as he got closer and that was when I was able to yank the zip tie off his mouth. And I got to see the relief off the dog’s face,” one of the rescuers told KTLA 5 News.
Having realized that these humans were there to help him, the pup, later named Argon, became relaxed. He accepted food and water that his rescuers gave him.
Shortly afterward, the police and animal control arrived and drove Argon to Palmdale Animal Care Center.
The pup, who was estimated to be seven years old, had inflammation and warts on his stomach and groin.
Argon Receives A Lot Of Love
Having received medical treatment, Argon moved to Agoura Animal Care Center.
His rescuers promised to help him find the happiness he deserves and make him forget all the suffering he endured.
Argon’s rescuers are determined to find the people who abused him and put his life in danger.
“We are grateful for the quick actions of these hikers and law enforcement, but our efforts must continue,” Fleur Dawes, communications director of In Defense of Animals, an international animal protection organization said in a press release.
The dog delighted his rescuers with his sweet personality despite the mistreatment he suffered.
He was grateful for the compassion and help the good humans showed him.
Unfortunately, shortly after being admitted to a shelter, the doggo was diagnosed with lymphoma.
His caregivers continued showering him with love, wishing to give him strength to fight for his recovery.
“While we are awaiting a definitive diagnosis through test results, we know one way or another, Argon has a long road of healing and recovery ahead of him,” County of Los Angeles – Agoura Animal Care Center wrote in an Instagram post.
German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County stepped in and took the pup under their care, promising to provide him with the extensive treatment that he needed.
The giant-hearted rescuers welcomed Argon with open arms and gave him a lot of love and support. As the dog soaked up their love, he started feeling better and more hopeful about his future.
I hope that the adorable pup will recover completely and find the happily ever after that he deserves.
